Our Activities

Seend Playgroup offers a wide range of play activities, both indoors and outdoors, to cover all areas of the curriculum.

We naturally offer the full range of activities that you would expect in a pre-school environment – painting, drawing, sand pit, water play, building bricks, dressing up, home corner, imaginative play, music, singing, dancing, “show and tell”, jigsaws, books… The list goes on!

However, as a village playgroup, we also make full use of our rural setting. The doors of Seend Playgroup open directly on to a large, safe playing field, known as The Lye. Whenever the weather permits, the children are encouraged to play outside and make use of our varied play equipment – balls, stilts, toys for throwing and catching, ride on bikes and tractors, etc. In addition, play equipment was all replaced in 2019.

Throughout the year, we take the children on various outings in the village such as blackberry picking, a walk to Love Lane, conker collecting, a canal walk. We also have very strong links with Seend School and to Seend Church, and visit both on a regular basis.

We take the children on walks to the Mobile Library in Seend when ever we can. On our recent walks we have been searching for the ‘Seend Stones’ and the children have been taking great delight in finding these painted rocks and re-hiding them in the village again.

We  take the children on trips further afield. In recent years, we have visited Larkrise Farm Community Farm, Woodland Adventurers, Trowbridge Fire Station, and lambing at Lackham College and more recently at Little Foxes Farm.
