Opening Hours:
Mon/Tues/Thurs/Fri 8.45am-2.45pm Term-time onlyOur staff see themselves as partners with parents in providing care and education for their child. We welcome and actively encourage parents’ participation and there are several key ways in which you can help:
Join the Committee
Seend Playgroup is run by a voluntary, elected committee, comprising parents and staff, without which we would be forced to close. If you are interested, you can read more about the Committee’s roles and responsibilities here.
Put your name on the parent rota
Research shows that children learn better when their parents/carers are involved. Our rota system offers all parents the opportunity to help during a playgroup session, just once a term, on a date of their choice. Your tasks whilst helping are to play with the children, help prepare and serve the morning snack, help with the washing up and cleaning. Your three hours in the setting help you to see how your child interacts in the group and shows your children that you are interested in what they do. If you are new to Playgroup, please do talk to a member of staff about “signing up”.
Tell us about your children
We monitor your child’s progress whilst they are at Playgroup and keep a record of their achievements in the form of their “Learning Journey”; this is kept by your child’s key worker but is available to view on request at any time and is always made available when you come to help at Playgroup (see paragraph above). We ask parents to contribute by sharing information about their child’s interests, needs and achievements. We have post-it notes available so you can jot down any relevant contribution, or if you prefer, please talk to your child’s key worker in the morning so they can update the Learning Journey.
